Professor Yury Nikitich Belenkov is a renowned Russian cardiologist, physician-scientist, and academic leader. He graduated with honors from S.M. Kirov Gorky Medical Institute in 1972 and has researched chronic heart failure since 1973. He pioneered the clinical use of echocardiography in Russia and, in 1983, established the country’s first specialized cardiac MRI laboratory. Prof. Belenkov also contributed to space cardiology projects and served at the A.L. Myasnikov Institute of Cardiology. Since 2006, he has chaired the Department of Hospital Therapy No. 1 at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, leading clinical research and medical education.
