Biography

Dr. Sumaya is the President of Emirates Nursing Association, Director of Nursing Department in Emirates Health Services, Leading the National Nursing & Midwifery Strategy in the UAE and Honorary associate professor at MBRU. Leading the taskforce committee for Cabinet Initiative (Attractiveness of Nursing Profession). Dr. Sumaya is an Awardee of Emirates Pride Medal for Mohammed Bin Rashid Government 2017; Community serving Medal 2020; Best Government Communication Campaign in promoting nursing profession (2018). “Pioneer Nurse” at the Global Health Pioneer Awards. She is recently inducted as fellow of American Academy of Nursing.

Oncology Nursing Globally: Challenges and Opportunities

Biography

Jeannine M. Brant, PhD, APRN-CNS, AOCN, FAAN is an oncology clinical nurse specialist and Executive Director of Clinical Science & Innovation at the City of Hope Cancer Center in Duarte, California. She is recognized as a community, regional, and national expert on cancer, pain and symptom management, and palliative care. Dr. Brant’s clinical work and program of research includes improving patient symptoms, developing clinically applicable tools to gather patient-reported outcomes, and focusing on nursing sensitive indicators that lead to quality nursing and interdisciplinary care. In a previous role, Dr. Brant served as Director and Lead Scientist for the Collaborative Science and Innovation (CSI) Department at Billings Clinic and was also the Principal Investigator for the Montana Cancer Consortium Cancer Control Delivery Research (CCDR) through the National Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). She also served on the Joe Biden Moonshot Panel, Clinical Trials Workgroup, the National Quality Forum Opioid Use and Use Disorder Panel, and the American Nurses Association Palliative Care Steering Panel. Her work in disparities has included being Director of the Women Reaching for Wellness Program, which promoted cancer education, prevention, and early detection in Native American women. In her daily role, Dr. Brant mentors nurses and other clinicians to conduct studies that span population health needs, with a focus on studies focused on hospital and ambulatory based cancer care. She also has a keen interest and expertise in multi-level implementation science to test strategies to integrate evidence into practice. She has more than 150 contributions to the literature and has delivered more than 200 national and international seminars and symposia on her areas of expertise. She currently serves as President for the Oncology Nursing Society. The Oncology Nursing Society is the largest cancer nursing organization in the world, comprised of almost 40,000 oncology nurses and representing over 100,000 oncology nursing colleagues and cancer care organizational nationwide.
