Dr. Marc Carrier, M.D., MSc, FRCPC, is Head of the Division of Hematology at The Ottawa Hospital, a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medicine and Senior Scientist in the Inflammation and Chronic Disease Program of The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. He holds a Clinical Research Chair in Venous Thromboembolism and Cancer from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

Dr. Grégoire Le Gal, M.D., Ph.D., is a Professor in the Division of Hematology of the Department of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, a physician and the lead of the Thrombosis Program, Division of Hematology at Ottawa Hospital, and a Senior Scientist and Director of the Inflammation and Chronic Diseases Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. He currently holds the Chair on Diagnosis of Venous Thromboembolism at the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
He was born and trained in France, before joining Ottawa in 2012. His primary research interest is the diagnosis and management of venous thromboembolism (VTE), including the clinical diagnosis of VTE, and the derivation and validation of clinical decision rules for VTE. He has over 450 peer-reviewed publications in general internal medicine and specialized journals and has had multiple international speaking invitations. He is a member of the international advisory board of the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and a reviewer for main general internal medicine and thrombosis Journals. He has been the principal investigator of several multicenter multinational projects on the diagnosis and management of VTE. He has supervised many trainees, medical students, graduate students, residents, national and international adult thrombosis medicine clinical and research fellows.
He is the current co-director of CanVECTOR, the Canadian Venous Thromboembolism Research Network, and the past-president of INVENT-VTE, the International Network of VTE Research Networks.
