Biography

Dr Arwa Al Riyami BS.c. MD, FRCPC Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, University Medical City Muscat, Oman Dr. Arwa Al Riyami is a Senior Consultant Hematopathologist at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, University Medical City, Oman. She earned her medical degree from Sultan Qaboos University, followed by a residency in Haematological Pathology at the University of British Columbia in Canada. She then completed a fellowship in Cellular Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in the United States. Dr. Al Riyami is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She is an active member of several professional societies and organizations, including the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT), the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB), the International Collaboration for Transfusion Medicine Guidelines (ICTMG), and the International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy (ISCT). She chaired the ISBT Clinical Transfusion Working Party and serves as a member of the ISBT Standing Committee on Ethics, the ISBT Transfusion-Transmitted Infections Working Party, and the ISBT Cellular Therapy Working Party. Additionally, she mentors young investigators participating in the ISBT I TRY IT program and serves as an editorial board member of Vox Sanguinis as well as a conference abstract reviewer for ISBT. Dr. Al Riyami is also a member of the AABB Global Transfusion Forum Steering Committee, the Cell Therapy Section Coordinating Committee, and currently chairs the AABB Global Transfusion Forum Research Committee. She is an AABB Assessor and Ambassador. Furthermore, she is a member of the WHO Advisory Group on Blood Regulation, Availability, and Safety. She is a board member of Arab Transfusion Forum (ATMF).

Biography

Dr. Magdy El Ekiaby has served the haemophilia community in Egypt since 1985, both through his profession as a haematologist and blood transfusion specialist, and as a member of the board and Vice President of the Egyptian Society of Hemophilia. He was also a Board of Directors of World Federation of Haemophilia, Montreal, 2010 – 2020. Dr El Ekiaby is currently the Head of Blood Transfusion & International Haemophilia Training Centre, Shabrawishi Hospital. Dr Magdy received World Federation of Hemophilia Inga-Marie Nielson Award for Scientific Research achievements in Melbourn 2014. He was also awarded Life Time Achievement Award from Arab Transfusion Medicine Forum in Cairo 2015. 2022 he received World Federation of Haemophilia International Health Volunteer Award in Montreal.
